A canopy or porch can provide protection, shelter, storage and added security as well as create a decorative feature that draws the eye to the main entrance of your home. The porch can be inside the main front wall or protrude from the building.
Styles range from enclosed stone or brick porches to open timbered frame that might be part glazed. The 18th and 19th century builders used simple roof canopies or door hoods and later in the 19th century saw timber painted lattice work porches become popular. The Victorians and Edwardians created elaborated designs with steep roofs, coped gables, carved kneelers and finials.

Nowadays with modern building materials and technology much more is possible whilst still embracing some of the original building techniques and styles, combined with modern necessitates such as insulation, security, durability and much more. All porches are bespoke and tailor made to the clients needs and wants covering all details in the builds final finish.
At Major Glass and Glazing we can even refurbish old porches changing the look and design to suit more modern trends. See some of pictures to the left to see before and after.
